The Local Pond was painted from an oil sketch I had done on location in the spring.  I find that working from my small studies more interesting and fun, than working from a photograph.  I do take a photo of the location where I am ptg, as it is handy in the drawing of the subject matter.  The oil sketch keeps me honest with the colours.
